Kat Maudru is a 21 year radio veteran, 16 of which have been spent right here on the Eagle. A Bay Area transplant, Kat has in the past toyed with the idea of doing TV news, but far prefers wearing "hamper surprise" to work and being on the radio.
Kat lives the extremely glamorous life of a soccer mom in Roseville. She has been married to Chris, her high school sweetheart, since 1989. After all these years, Chris, who is an awesome golfer and all around good guy, still can't believe that Kat, who talks non-stop whether she is in front of a microphone or not, is actually gainfully employed and gets paid to talk! From the "Paybacks Are a Bitch" file, Kat and Chris have two very, very busy daughters whose energy could power a small city. The oldest is in high school (ugh!) and the younger one (Alena) is in middle school - talk about ch-ch-ch-changes!
In her spare time (can you say oxymoron?), when she's not doing the news or running the Eagle's Public Affair's Department, Kat is a gym rat who also loves to cook, water and snow ski, and is now taking beginning golf lessons for the 3rd time in as many years - maybe this time she'll get it..
Listen for Kat Monday through Friday mornings on the Mark and Brian show. You can also hear her Saturday and Sunday mornings on the Public File, a 30 minute public affairs program.
Name: Kat Maudru Hometown: Raised mostly in Sunnyvale, CA, back when it was more of a Roseville type of town – tons of young families, parks, schools and orchards; not a silicon chip in sight.... . Year arrived in Sacramento: I moved from San Francisco to Auburn in 1988 – can you say culture shock? Year landed at Eagle: 1990! The station was just a few months old! I was also,
of course, quite a bit younger... Sports Allegiances: The Kings, of course, and then being a Bay Area chick who lived and worked in San Francisco, I am a Giants/49ers fan. My best friend's dad was a Bay Area sports writer and for years was the score keeper for the Giants. When we were kids, we used to run wild around Candlestick park while he worked! Wow, how times have changed.... Band/Artists: I am, no doubt the goober of the station when it comes to musical tastes. I love Sting (this is not news), Jimmy Buffett (ditto), Chris Isaack, Nora Jones, classical music, reggae, R&B, and a whole lot of other "not considered terribly hip" artists and styles. Alma Mater: Homestead High School (Cupertino, CA), UC Berkeley (BA) and San Francisco State University (Masters). The World According to Kat: When there's no gainful employment to be found, go back for another degree..... . Vacation destinations: Give me the beach - Santa Crua, Hawaii, Tahoe - anywhere with sunshine, sand and water! On-Air: Morning News with Mark and Brian
